The Brazilian Ronaldo Luiz Nazario de Lima said that does not believe that the Colombian selection was to “hunt” Neymar, premeditated way, in the match of quarter-finals contested yesterday, but that Camilo Zuniga was “intended to do harm”. Ronaldo said that already no matter if the FIFA Disciplinary Committee sanctions Zuniga or not, although it was in favor of to “be punished severely violent players, who have no intention of playing the ball”. “What was done was done. It was unfair I don’t know if it will have consequences, but it doesn’t matter much. We already are scared and sad with the loss of the best player in Brazil”, he added.
Ronaldo, who twice suffered very serious injuries which were to put an end to his career, said he knows how it feels Neymar and that, for that reason, last night called him as soon as he learned of the severity of the injury. “Yesterday evening, after that is confirmed the injury, I sent a message of support and told him feel a lot not only physical pain, but also the pain he feels for leaving the world. He is very young, has many dreams and one was playing the World Cup at home surrounded by his people. He received a very hard blow that has given you life”, he said. “Know that across the country is very proud of it and that fans will further encourage the team achieve a victory and take it to be,” he added.
Another former, Fabio Cannavaro, shares the view of Ronaldo: “it was avoidable, because (Zuniga) had no chance of putting the ball. It was also with high knee, it seems that had intended to hit it and gives me a bad impression”, he said today in Maracana who was captain of the Italian national team, the world champion in 2006. The Defense stressed that, however, it is difficult to say if FIFA should punish the Colombian player or not, since “it is not very evident” that was with intent to harm.
