Did you hear it?  It had as much staying power as a virgin boy on prom night. It was the fifteen minutes … errr … five minutes of fame USA Soccer experienced after their improbable victory over world powerhouse, Spain.  It was the flash where America’s best-of-the-best childhood athlete said, “Mom, I want to play soccer!” and then proceeded outside to shoot hoops.  But for that brief moment, the 30 seconds when the final whistle blew and ESPN promptly switched over to reruns of “Rome is Burning.” there was a glimmer of hope for soccer in this country.  USASoccer: Take a bow, for tomorrow you slither back into your hole of anonymity.
